Jibril Washington is a Filmmaker, Creative Director, and Entrepreneur from Pittsburgh, PA. Though a sometimes troubled youth, he's always had a vision of inspiring, motivating, and helping. He found passion in football and the arts amid his turbulent environment.
After graduating from Taylor Allderdice high school, he went to Penn State University where he became a student-athlete and studied Communications, Journalism, and Theatre Arts. After receiving his degree, he moved to New York City (NYC) to be a production assistant at the NBA/WNBA (Womens/National Basketball Association) league office. He worked across multiple departments including Content, Marketing, and Social Responsibility.
In his spare time in NYC, he began using his camera to record and edit throughout the city, exploring life. Jibril moved back to his mom's house in Pittsburgh during the pandemic with a bright spot. He started a media company, Intrinsic Media.It started as a platform to tell emotionally engaged BIPOC creator's stories through cinematic video and grew. The idea was that we could use our steez, strategy, and cinematic eye to shape powerful brands and stories that people could connect to and be inspired by. It now sits as a media platform with creative services including creative consulting, and video production.
He is now serving as the filmmaking fellowship coordinator at the Pop District's Warhol Academy, an initiative of the Andy Warhol Museum where he facilities fellows who come through the program to sharpen their skills.
Jibril has served and worked with nonprofits and organizations like WQED Filmmakers Academy, Artist Talk Mental Health, The Gathering Harlem, and Student Restorative Justice Initiative.
